This posting is an update to my LEED Accreditation exam studying. I have finished the section on indoor environmental quality. This section was fairly simple and easy to understand. There were a couple sections with some calculations that were tricky. The section on daylighting and glazing factors confused me for about 10 minutes. Here are the credits available from the EQ section.
- EQp1: Minimum IAQ performance – Prerequistite
- EQp2: Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) Control – Prerequisite
- EQc1: Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring
- EQc2: Increased Ventilation
- EQc3.1: Construction IAQ Management Plan – During construction
- EQc3.2: Construction IAQ Management Plan – Before Occupancy
- EQc4.1: Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives and Sealants
- EQc4.2: Low-Emitting Materials: Paints and Coatings
- EQc4.3: Low-Emitting Materials: Carpet Systems
- EQc4.4: Low-Emitting Materials: Composite Wood and Agrifiber
- EQc5: Indoor Chemical and Pollutant Source Control
- EQc6.1: Controllability of Systems: Lighting
- EQc6.2: Controllability of Systems: Thermal Comfort
- EQc7.1: Thermal Comfort: Design
- EQc7.2: Thermal Comfort: Verification
- EQc8.1: Daylighting and Views: Daylight for 75% of Spaces
- EQc8.2: Daylighting and Views: Views for 90% of Spaces
The indoor environmental quality section of the New Construction reference guide is the first section that really takes the buildings occupants into consideration. It encourages the use of low-emitting materials for people’s health, as well as, view requirements and temperature control requirements for people’s comfort. This is the section that GreenWave Solutions can earn LEED credits for it’s customers.
The next section of the reference guide is Innovation and Design. It’s short and sweet. I will be done soon.
