As more contractors see how “green” = “cool,” more contractors will say that they are “green.” Perhaps I am being cynical, but I fear that to many of these contractors “green” = “cool” = “money” and they are exploiting consumer’s will to do what is right for the environment.

“What makes a paint or coating eco-friendly?”
“What are the current VOC guildlines for the particular paints that you will be using on this job?”
“Are your crews knowledgeable about the proper application methods or these new and innovative products since there are different from many current standards?” If so, “What is their training?”
“Are you LEED Certified?” “Tell me what you know about LEED and The U.S. Green Building Council.”
“If I want to pursue LEED Certification, under which credits can you earn me points?”
“Do you dispose of your waste materials in an ecologically responsible manner? How?”
